Wrestlers Qualify For State; Named Sonic Student-Athletes of the Week

Lake City Sonic will be recognizing outstanding student-athletes each week during the 2017-18 school year This week’s recipients are the SIX Panthers wrestlers that qualified for the state individual tournament this weekend in Anderson, SC. Traveling to the championships will be (L-R) Damien Lee, Tyzai Gaskins, Antonio Skipper, Dayshawn Washington, Everett Sanders, and Joshua Jones.

Basketball Playoffs Schedule

The Lake City High School boys and girls basketball programs have qualified for the SCHSL playoffs. The Lady Panthers will travel to Swansea Monday February 12 for a 7 PM tipoff. The boys will host Edisto Tuesday February 13 at 7 PM. Tickets are $6 and district employee passes cannot be accepted according to SCHSL

Lady Panthers Fall to Bulldogs

The Lady Panthers’ Elantryia Moore notched a double-double with a team-high 10 points and 10 blocks in a 53-24 loss to Georgetown Thursday. The Panthers finished fourth in the Region 6-3A and will play on the road in the Class 3A playoffs on Monday.

2nd Qtr All-Academic Team

Panthers Slip By Georgetown

Lake City had three players score in double digits as the Panthers defeated Georgetown 67-63 Thursday. Eric Kennedy scored a team-high 15 points, while Ji-Tarvious Sherrills added 14 and Raekwon Hailey chipped in 13. With the win, the Panthers clinched the second seed from Region 6-3A and will host Edisto Tuesday.

Sweetheart King and Queen Crowned

Lake City High School crowned its 2018 Sweetheart King and Queen during halftime of the boys’ and girls’ basketball games against Georgetown Thursday night. Marquese Butler was crowned Sweetheart King and Melvon Cooper was runner-up. Khylle Nero was crowned Sweetheart Queen with Briana Davis as runner-up.
