The Lake City Panthers shook off last week’s tough loss to Manning on the road and shut out rival Kingstree 54-0 Friday night.
Quarterback Chris Burnett completed nine of 10 passes for 185 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Tyshawn Baines rushed for 135 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns. Baines also caught a pass from Burnett for his third touchdown of the game.
The Panther defense continued to limit opponents’ scoring opportunities, allowing Kingstree only 70 total yards of offense and compiling nine sacks on the night.
Jawuan McDowell and Terquan Rush each notched three sacks. Rush finished the night with six tackles. Justin Clary had five tackles including four tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Matthew Cooper also blocked a Kingstree punt and returned it for a touchdown.
Lake City (3-1) will host Crestwood Friday night for homecoming.
