Manning, SC – The Lake City boys soccer teams were both victorious in their scrimmages against Manning, Tuesday evening. The varsity boys posted a shutout by a score of 3-0 while the junior varsity team held their own in a 4-2 victory.
Senior Felix Lazo led the varsity panthers with three goals, recording the final leg of his hat trick on a penalty kick in the second half. Freshmen Luis Munoz (7 shots), Javier Arroyo (1 shot), and Gerardo Corea (1 shot) joined Junior Deandre Henneghan (3 shots) for a lively night of offense for the varsity squad. Senior Travis Taylor managed the shutout in the goal, recording nine saves on the night.
The junior varsity game was full of offensive action as the panthers played most of the game on the opposing team’s half of the field. Eighth grader Irvin Fajardo scored two goals on the night. He was joined by seventh grader Fermin Lopez who also scored two goals. Eighth grader Chandler Gause made a number of terrific saves, finishing with a total of six.
Both teams shall return to action Thursday night at home against South Florence.
