Lake City, SC – The Lake City Boys Soccer team got up bright and early Saturday morning to assist with the Color Me Run 5k hosted by ArtFields. The student-athletes assisted in both the production and clean up of the event – throwing paint and encouragement at everyone who passed by.
Several of the student-athletes continued to give back to the community after the 5k was completed. Juniors Damian Lee and Daniel Malasky partnered with sophomore Desmond Lee to help run the ArtFields welcome center.
Malasky explained, “Coach Luna and Coach Jennings have really challenged us to give back to our community this season, and it was a pleasure to have an opportunity to do just that.”
The student-athletes received rave reviews for their assistance from both fellow volunteers and runners alike.
Artfield volunteer Melissa Carber went even further in saying, “The young men were polite, respectful, and helpful for the entire three hours. They went above and beyond what was expected. They were wonderful!”
The Panthers Soccer teams volunteered just over 73 hours Saturday to the ArtFields program, bringing their total for just the month of April to nearly ninety hours.
