Lake City, SC—Lake City High School’s Molik Brown will be continuing his baseball career with Claflin University.
Brown, a four-year starter at catcher for the Panthers, was a standout on the baseball diamond and also on the gridiron as he earned All-Region honors for multiple years in both sports.
In 2017, the versatile athlete hit .312 with 24 hits including four doubles, four triples, and one homerun while scoring 28 runs, driving in 16 runs, and swiping 24 bases. Defensively, Brown gunned down 60% of opposing baserunners.
“Molik is an explosive athlete with a huge upside and is the toughest player I’ve ever coached,” said Panthers Head Coach Matt Apicella. “He has so much raw talent that you cannot teach. I fully expect him to flourish at Claflin when he is able to completely focus on only baseball and his academics.”
