“Meet Your Panthers” is back for the sixth edition and delivers two more standout representatives of the Lake City High School Class of 2018 with Marquese Butler and Nigel Gaskins. Marquese has been a part of the Panthers football squad for four years and participated in track and basketball while also balancing participation as a New Tech Ambassador, running his own business (Clean & Shine Mobile Wash click link for more info), and maintaining a 3.7 GPA. Nigel has participated in football and baseball while also volunteering his services at the Lake City Fire Department during his time away from athletics.

What is your favorite sport and athlete?
MB: My favorite sport is football and Ray Lewis is my favorite athlete.
NG: Football is my favorite sport and Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is my favorite athlete.
Why do you participate in LCHS athletics?
MB: I participate in LCHS athletics because I get to play my favorite sport and represent my hometown.
NG: I play because I love Lake City and the people of my community.
What is your favorite class and teacher?
MB: I would say my favorite class is Entrepreneurship. I don’t have a favorite teacher. All of my teachers have pushed me to my limits so they are all my favorites.
NG: My favorite class is English and Coach LaTia Fleming is my favorite teacher.
Who is the most influential person in your life? Why?
MB: My Mom is the most influential person in my life. All of my accomplishments today come from me wanting to make a difference in my family and do things we have never done.
NG: My Mother because she goes the extra mile to make sure my sister and I are taken care of always.
What is your favorite meal?
MB: I love steak and salad.
What is your favorite athletic event memory?
MB: My favorite memory was playing Wilson at their homecoming game and coming back from being down 21 points to win. That game made a big difference in my playing time and I was in the newspaper after that game.
NG: My favorite athletic memory was my Junior year of football. I loved that team and really miss those guys that graduated.
What is your plan after graduating?
MB: My plan after graduating is to obtain my business degree and continue to grow my business so it will be the best around.
NG: I plan to join the United States Army.
What is the best part of LCHS?
MB: I would have to say the best part is all of the different organizations and clubs you can join.
NG: The best part is having so many really nice teachers.
How do you want Panther fans to remember you?
MB: I want Panther fans to remember me as a hardworking young man who had a desire to make a difference.
NG: I want Panther fans to remember me as a good athlete but an even better person.
