The Lake City varsity baseball team continued to shake off some rust with a 7-4 home victory over Wilson High School.
Sophomore Shaquan Epps provided five strong innings on the mound surrendering two hits while striking out five and walking three. Cameron Spates entered in the 6th inning with the score 4-3 but faced some control issues with a walk and three wild pitches to tie the score at 4-4.
The Lake City offense answered in the bottom half of the 6th with some two-out magic as Bryce McIntosh and Spates hit back to back doubles to open the lead up to 7-4. Spates then struck out the side in the top of the 7th to pick up the win.
McIntosh led the Panthers at the plate with a double, triple, two RBI, and two runs scored. Spates was 2/4 with two doubles and two RBI while Epps was 2/2 with a double and RBI. Hilshon Bailey also continued his hot hitting with a triple.
Lake City is now 4-1 and will travel to Dillon Wednesday night for a 6:30 game.
