Marion, SC – The boys and girls cross country teams braved warm weather and an unfamiliar course to post numerous season best performances Tuesday evening at Marion High School.
The boys team was led by junior Irvin Fajardo, whose time of 21:12 was good for 4th place overall. Fellow junior Jerrion Flowers was 2nd for the boys in a time of 26:38, a 2 minute season best.
Senior Matthew Leiter came in next, posting his first ever 5k finish in a time of 27:12. He was followed by junior Caleb Wallace (30:17) who also came in with a season best time.
The Lady Panthers were led by sophomore Xzerrya Clark. Clark’s time of 30:59 was a huge season best and netted her a third place overall finish. Junior Kara Whitten (34:21) finished second on the team with another solid performance.
Seventh grader Lyla Bingham continued her impressive inaugural campaign by posting a new season best of 37:39, good for third on the team. She was followed by juniors Sarah Leiter (40:40) and Haley Hardway (44:06).
Senior Sabrina Bonilla-Perez (44:08) also ran a new season best time, good for a sixth place finish on the varsity team.
The Panthers will travel to Darlington next Tuesday.
