Panthers News · Panthers End Losing Streak to Alumni Squad; Nelson Pays Forward

On a cool and windy Saturday, the Lake City varsity baseball team ended a three game losing streak to the always stout Panthers Alumni team with a 10-3 shellacking in the 14th annual matchup.  Class of 2008 graduate Jesse “The Crafty Lefty” Matthews led the alumni with 3 hits and 2 RBI while the ageless Brian McFadden, class of 2001, hit an opposite field 2-run bomb onto the tennis courts against a strong wind.  However, it wasn’t enough as the Panther pitching staff stymied the Alumni bats all day.  The Panthers offense was led by multiple hits from Xavier Baker and EJ McClam.

Following the game, class of 2010 alumnus Shonquez Nelson gifted the varsity team with Nike turf shoes and pullovers.  Thank you for an amazing gesture!
