Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Panthers Top Loris, 7-2

Loris, SC – The Lady Panthers Varsity Soccer Team (1-0) notched its first win of the season against Loris Tuesday evening. The Panthers gave up a quick goal in the first 10 minutes of the game only to rally back in the second half and put the game out of reach.

Junior Brooklyn Butler started the scoring with a quick strike to follow Loris’ goal. Sophomore Fabiola Rivera then sent a nice cross to fellow sophomore Crystal Toledo to give the Panthers their first lead. Toledo followed that goal with another after a penalty awarded the Panthers a free kick just outside the 18. Loris followed with a goal of their own to end the half at 3-2 in favor of the visitors.

Following an abbreviated halftime due to the pending threat of weather, the Panthers came out strong. Butler notched an assist to junior Kara Whitten to put the Panthers up 4-2, and they never looked back.

Rivera took over in the second half, assisting on a goal to Butler and scoring two goals of her own to seal the victory with a final score of 7-2.

The Panthers will return to action this Friday as they travel to Marion for another region match. The Lady Panthers will begin at 5:30, and the boys will follow at 7:00.
