Camden, SC – The Lake City Cross Country teams travelled to Camden for the first time Tuesday evening, but the Panthers looked right at home. The boys finished 5th out of 11 schools, and the ladies finished 7th out of 9 schools.
Senior Irvin Fajardo led the boys team with an 11th place finish in a time of 19:18. Sophomore Demaray Skipper unleashed a fierce kick down the home stretch, passing several competitors and closing in a new personal best time of 19:51. The time was good for 18th place.
Senior Jerrion Flowers ran a season best of 20:33, a full minute faster than his performance two weeks ago. Seniors Chandler Gause (22:16) and Austin Shake (23:23) also posted season best times. Senior Caleb Wallace (24:05) had another strong showing coming off an injury to conclude the boys’ effort.
Junior Xzerrya Clark (27:37) made her season debut, leading the Lady Panthers with an 18th place finish. Sophomore Juliana Itehua (30:20) posted another strong showing in her inaugural campaign, coming in 29th overall.
Senior Sarah Leiter overcame a rolled ankle to cross the finish line in 31:46. Senior Haley Hardway crossed the line next in a solid time of 33:26.
8th grader Lyla Bingham (34:16) and junior Makayla Sheppard (27:00) rounded out the day for the Lady Panthers.
The Panthers travel to Sumter High next Wednesday in their final competition before the region meet.
