Lake City Sonic Student-Athletes of the Week

Lake City Sonic will be recognizing two outstanding student-athletes each week during the 2017-18 school year. This week’s recipients are senior Chris Patterson and junior Tierra Burgess. Patterson helped the Panther boys split two games against South Florence by averaging 9 points per game, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. providing a physical inside presence

Lady Panthers Topple South Florence

The Lady Panthers toppled South Florence 38-32 Friday in a non-region game. Lake City trailed 9-7 after the first period, but outscored the Lady Bruins 15-7 in the second quarter to take a 22-16 lead into intermission. Panthers Place Three On All-Region Squads

The Lake City High School basketball programs placed three players on the 2016-17 Region VI-AAA All-Region Teams. LPs Season Ends at Bishop England

The Lake City High School Lady Panthers basketball season ended in the 1st round of the SCHSL playoffs with a loss to three-time defending state champions Bishop England. Basketball Playoffs Schedule and GPS Addresses

The girls and boys varsity basketball teams begin the SCHSL AAA playoffs this week. The Lady Panthers (8-12) will travel to Bishop England High School (19-3) Monday February 13 for a 7 PM tipoff.  Bishop England High School is located at 363 Seven Farms Dr, Charleston, SC 29492 The boys squad (17-6) will travel to Timberland

Cheerleaders, Elementary Students Entertain

The Lake City High School varsity cheerleaders, along with participants in the squad’s recent cheerleader camp, entertained fans at halftime of Monday’s basketball games between the Panthers and Aynor. In addition, J.C. Lynch Elementary School’s kickboxing club, under the direction of teacher Fran Cantey, performed a demonstration of their skills.

Lady Panthers Topple Aynor

The Lake City High Lady Panthers held Aynor to just five second-half points Monday and took a 47-21 Region VI-3A win over the Lady Blue Jackets Monday. Sweetheart Queen and King Crowned

Lake City High School crowned its Sweetheart King and Queen during Friday night’s basketball games against Loris. Malan Wilson  was crowned Sweetheart Queen during halftime of the boys’ game. Destiny Croker was selected first runner-up and Paulina Morales was second runner-up. Wilson was crowned by Maya Scott, 2016 Sweetheart Queen. Jeremy Evans was named Sweetheart King

Lady Panthers Fall to Loris

The Lake City Lady Panthers were held to only 10 first-half points Friday in a 46-28 Region VI-3A loss to Loris. Loris took advantage of Lake City turnovers to build a 20-6 lead in the second period. Lake City broke a 10-0 scoring run by the Lady Lions when Joycelyn Epps scored with 2:41 left
