Lake City Sonic Student-Athletes of the Week

Lake City Sonic will be recognizing two outstanding student-athletes each week during the 2017-18 school year. This week’s recipients are senior Chris Patterson and junior Tierra Burgess. Panthers Knock Off Bruins

Lake City knocked off South Florence 55-50 Friday in a non-region matchup. The Panthers held a comfortable 28-18 halftime lead, but the Bruins outscored Lake City 12-7 in the third period and tied the game 42-42 midway through the fourth period. Epps Named WPDE All-Zone

Junior guard Tyrek Epps was named to the WPDE All-Zone team for his outstanding basketball season.  Epps led the Panthers offense with 13.4 points per game with 2.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 steals each outing. “Tyrek has worked extremely hard on his game and it showed this season,” stated Panthers Head Coach Michael Manning.

Panthers Place Three On All-Region Squads

The Lake City High School basketball programs placed three players on the 2016-17 Region VI-AAA All-Region Teams. Basketball Playoffs Schedule and GPS Addresses

The girls and boys varsity basketball teams begin the SCHSL AAA playoffs this week. Cheerleaders, Elementary Students Entertain

The Lake City High School varsity cheerleaders, along with participants in the squad’s recent cheerleader camp, entertained fans at halftime of Monday’s basketball games between the Panthers and Aynor. In addition, J.C. Lynch Elementary School’s kickboxing club, under the direction of teacher Fran Cantey, performed a demonstration of their skills.
